About the Role

We’re looking for a seasoned engineer to help scale our Zyte API platform to handle 100K queries per second. This role involves architecting and optimizing large-scale distributed systems across cloud, on-prem, and edge environments. You’ll take on deep technical challenges, mentor engineers, and make decisions that directly impact thousands of users.

What You’ll Do

• Design global-scale distributed systems across GCP, OCI, on-prem, and edge devices.

• Optimize high-load services written in Java, Python, Rust, and Node.js for performance and efficiency.

• Own the full development lifecycle, from idea to deployment and monitoring.

• Collaborate across teams including product, data science, and platform engineers.

• Promote best practices in reliability, observability, testing, and DevOps.

Who You Are

• 10+ years of experience building distributed, high-throughput systems

• Deep expertise in Java, C++, or Rust, and in protocols like HTTP, TCP, WebSockets

• Comfortable with Linux and containerized deployments at scale

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

• Excellent communication in remote, async teams

• Passionate about learning and experimenting with new tech

• Frameworks: Netty, Vert.x, Kafka

• Infra: Kubernetes, Docker, GCP, OCI, on-prem

• Databases: RDBMS, NoSQL, Time-series DBs

• Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK

Bonus Points

• Experience with browser internals, Chrome DevTools, or WebAssembly

• Knowledge of web scraping or large-scale crawling

• Contributions to open source

• Familiarity with functional programming (Scala, Haskell, Erlang)
