About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer (Treasury Engineering) will play a pivotal role in leading high-impact projects across Treasury engineering, operations, compliance, and risk teams. This position involves defining the technical architecture for Mercury’s Treasury product, designing stable, scalable systems, and actively contributing to its growth. The role will require collaboration with cross-functional teams to create thoughtful features and solutions for both internal users and customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional projects with Treasury engineering, operations, compliance, and risk teams to build scalable systems and processes.
- Define the technical architecture and ensure the Treasury product meets business needs.
- Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to deliver high-quality features.
- Take product ownership and contribute actively to shaping the future of the Treasury product.
- Manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Mentor junior and senior engineers, helping them grow through collaborative guidance.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively across teams, fostering a productive environment.
Required Skills
- Experience with Haskell or another programming language with similar static typing or functional paradigms.
- Domain knowledge of broker-dealer trading or custody systems supporting individual securities (equities, fixed income), ETFs, and mutual funds.
- Proven experience as the technical lead on complex projects with significant stakeholder involvement.
- Strong architectural decision-making skills with the ability to articulate tradeoffs and long-term impact.
- Mentorship skills for guiding both junior and senior engineers.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross-functional environments.

- Familiarity with financial systems related to trading and custody for securities and funds.
- Experience with scalable system architecture and building high-impact technical solutions.
- Prior involvement in shaping complex, long-term projects within the fintech space.
